Join us at Oxpen Lake on Saturday, June 6, 2026, starting at 8:30 AM for one of our favorite traditions! The event is free and open to youth 15 and under, but pre‑registration is required at the link below. Kids are encouraged to bring their own rod, reel, and bucket or stringer, but we’ll have a limited amount of gear available for anyone who needs it. After the derby, head over to Lake Bee Recreation Area for a free family cookout! We’ll have hot dogs, chips, and cookies for all participants and their families. Stick around for door prizes too—fishing rods, tackle boxes, water toys, games, and more! To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we’ll be giving away commemorative T‑shirts to all youth registered by May 20th (and in attendance on June 6th)—so don’t wait!

Those picking up vouchers on behalf of another person must bring a copy of that individual’s photo identification, know the person’s household size and income, and provide a signed note authorizing them to receive the vouchers. The signature on the note must match the identification provided. These requirements also apply to spouses. A person with power of attorney may obtain vouchers for another person if they bring the appropriate legal documentation. The Town of Cheraw Recreation and Leisure Services will have its Juneteenth celebration from 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Centennial Park, located at 200 Market St. in downtown Cheraw. The event is a celebration of freedom, history, culture and resilience. It will have food, fellowship, inspirational performances and the Level 10 Live Band. The Purple Crusaders Working to End Alzheimer’s of Cheraw/Chesterfield will have their fundraiser race/walk on Saturday, June 20, to bring awareness and advocate to end Alzheimer’s Disease. The event will start at 8 a.m. with a ceremony and then race at Arrowhead Park, located at 989 State Road in Cheraw. The walk, which is free, will start at 8:30 a.m. Registration is required for 5K participants. Cost is $30 before June 1 and $35 after June 1-20. The cost is $40 day of race.
