Meet Our Radio Staff
JAY LEWIS
Jay Lewis is a Cheraw native and 1982 graduate of Cheraw High School. He began his radio career at WCRE in 1980 and has worked at Z103 and WJMX in Florence. Jay joined A & M Records in 1989 as a Promotion and Marketing Manager, where A & M was later purchased by Interscope Records. During Jay’s 19 year career in the record industry, he has worked with artists such as Amy Grant, Bryan Adams, Sting, Styx, Sheryl Crow, Guns & Roses, Eminem, 50 Cent, Gwen Stefani, Soundgarden, Smashmouth, Elton John and many more. For the past 16 years, Jay has been Program Director and host of The Morning Mess at MyFM.
A Few Fun Facts About Jay: Jay’s favorite artist is Boston, he love the Eagles and his first concert was KISS in 1976.
GEORGE ADAMS
George Adams is originally from Laurinburg, North Carolina, and is a graduate of Wingate and Appalachian State Universities. George married a Cheravian, Debbie Brasington in 1979 and has 2 children and 4 grandchildren. George started his radio career at WLNC AM1300, Hometown Radio for Scotland County from 1970-1979. He moved to Cheraw and started at WCRE 1420-AM from 1979-1987, taking a short hiatus from 1981-1983. George began hosting the Saturday Morning Quarterback show in 1980, that broadcasts live on Saturday mornings during high school football season featuring local teams and other big games around the state. George later became the co-owner of WIXR in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina between 1986-2007, and went to work for local industries including: Palmetto Brick, Kershaw Sand, and Moore Automotive (Meggs Autos) while co-hosting The Morning Mess with Jay Lewis to the present date.
A Few Fun Facts About George: George’s favorite band is The Beatles, (duh), he loves drinking coffee first thing in the morning, his wife, Debbie makes the best pound cake that he occasionally shares with his radio family, and he is a NASA nut, among other nuttiness.
MITCH JOHNSON
Mitch Johnson has been with WCRE since 2001. He got his start in radio at a very young age following in the footsteps of his father, Dwight Johnson. By the time Mitch graduated from high school, he already had three radio gigs! Mitch brings his quirky style to listeners every afternoon from 3-6PM as he shares personal stories and brings his perspective to the latest trending topics.
A Few Fun Facts About Mitch: Mitch always drinks coffee and eats something chocolate before each show and can be found singing very loudly in the studio. Mitch has interviewed numerous political figures, entertainers, and athletes, and has met Ric Flair on three different occasions. Mitch thinks Greg Page – the yellow Wiggle – of the Wiggles may be the most famous person he’s ever talked with on the radio… and even sang “Fruit Salad” with Greg on air!
ANGELA “ANGIE CEE” CRAWFORD
Angela Crawford was born and raised in Cheraw, South Carolina, graduated from Cheraw High School, and attended Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College (now NETC). Angela is happily married to Ronald Crawford with two children and continues to live in her hometown of Cheraw, sometimes referred to as Rawtown. Her marketing and sales experience led her to a career in radio at WCRE 1420-AM and Classic Hits 93.9 MyFM in Cheraw, South Carolina in 2022. She is better known as her radio personality, Angie Cee, and currently hosts the midday show WH@t’sUP?! on 93.9 MyFM.
A Few Fun Facts About Angie Cee: Angela does not like to wake up to music in the morning… go figure! She loves coffee, hot or cold, her favorite candies are Circus Peanuts, PayDays and candy corn… especially the candy pumpkins in the fall. Angela sings on the praise team at FreeWorship, Cheraw and watches episodes of Little House on the Prairie, Matlock and King of Queens on repeat.
