DNR Hunter Education Course

Carolina Sandhills National Wildlife Refuge will host a hunter education course taught by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources in September. The course will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 21 at the refuge office, located at 23734 Highway 1. The course is for anyone who enjoys the outdoors and has an interest in conservation. The course is also an excellent refresher for veteran
hunters. All residents and non-residents born after June 30, 1979, must complete a hunter education course before obtaining a hunting license. The course is free but limited to 25 students. Children 12 years old and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants should bring lunch or money for lunch offsite. Officials said the course materials are on a sixth-grade
reading level, and they do not discourage any age from attending the class. Only children age 10 and older, however, may take the final exam. Pre-registration is available online by visiting https://www.registered.com/events/view/211598 or search SCDNR Hunter Education and then search by zip code, 29101.
